Dallas Symphony Orchestra

As the largest performing arts organization in the Southwest, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra is comprised of 89 musicians and calls the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center home.

The DSO has grown from a 40-person ensemble to a world-class orchestra since its inception in 1900 under the leadership of such eminent conductors as Antal Dorati, Walter Hendl, Sir Georg Solti, Donald Johanos, Anshel Busilow, Max Rudolf, Eduardo Mata and Andrew Litton. Since the 2008 appointment of Music Director Jaap van Zweden, the orchestra has received consistent praise for stunning interpretations of works including Ludwig van Beethoven’s Fifth and Sixth Symphonies, the Verdi Requiem, Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 and many more. Under van Zweden’s leadership, the orchestra has received lavish praise from The New York times, Musical America, The Financial Times, Dallas Morning News and more.

The DSO’s array of concert offerings includes the Texas Instruments Classical Series featuring modern and classic composers, performed exclusively by the DSO; the DSO Pops Series which includes super stars of Pop music performing with and without the DSO; the Dallas Symphony Presents Series, which offers selected performances from all music genres performing with and without the DSO; the ever-popular Family Concert Series; and Holidays at the DSO, featuring a host of productions anchored by the nationally acclaimed Christmas Celebration. Concerts are held Thursday through Sunday.
