Holiday Shopping Series: Nasher Sculpture Center Store

We’re nearing the end of this year’s series, and we certainly couldn’t forgo a visit to the Nasher Sculpture Center Store. We’ve also yet to do a totally kid specific post, and since the Nasher has such cool kids stuff, we’ve decided to make it Part 8 in our Holiday Shopping Series.

The Nasher has gifts for kids of all ages, even little baby shoes and socks, which are adorable (see pic to the right)! If you’re looking for gift ideas for kids that are a little older, there’s plenty of unique journals, posters, and books to choose from. They’ve also got tons of little trinkets that would make perfect stocking stuffers, too. For the little ones between the 1 and 6 age range, I found a couple of really neat gifts.

Get your kids into art early with selected artist coloring books. Let them be creative and learn about the historic work of famous artists at the same time. Shown to the left are books on the work of Spanish  painter/sculptor Joan Miro and some of the sculptures at the Nasher. Other versions include the work of Paul Gauguin and Andy Warhol. I have to admit, I’d actually enjoying playing with these coloring books myself.

Let the kids make their own comic strip with the Magnetic Comic Strip Kit. They choose the characters and objects and then get to work developing the story. Pros of this gift include easy clean up, portability, and endless creative possibilities.
